Marathon Route Training Run - Saturday, March 23rd ~ 10th Year

We are planning our 10th annual Boston Marathon Route Training Run for Saturday, March 23rd.  This is a great opportunity to do a long run on part of the Boston Marathon route.  We start at Boston College and run the route in reverse to Wellesley and then turn around to return to BC but you can run whatever distance suits you because we all end up back at the same place.  The big charity teams will also be training that day which means there will be hundreds of other runners and frequent water stops set up by the other charities who are very happy to support Griffins runners too.  (feel free to wear your Griffin’s Friends attire)  The energy so close to Marathon Monday is infectious and it is a great chance to see the Newton hills and other famous landmarks on the route.  The plan is as follows:

 ·       Meet in the McDonalds parking lot (420 Center Street, Ludlow, next to the Ludlow exit on the Pike) at 7:30am and we will car pool from there.  If you live nearer Boston, or want to drive there directly, you can meet us at 9am at the parking lot noted below.

·       Parking is on the BC campus in the lot on the corner of Campanella Way and Fr. Herilihy Drive directly behind St. Ignatius Church (GPS:  28 Commonwealth Avenue, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467).  Take Fr. Herilihy Drive off Commonwealth Avenue just after the church and opposite the BC T-Station.  Campanella Way is the first right and the parking lot is right there.  If this lot is full there is a large lot further down Campanella on the right.  There is a student center building a few yards away so we can use their facilities before and after we run.

·       We’ll start running at 9 AM and finish at around noon which is just in time for lunch and a beer at Cityside.  Cityside is located at 1960 Beacon Street, Brighton and is just 1.4 miles from BC.

We hope you can join us - if you have any questions, contact Kevin Conway (kconway2@massmutual.com) or Paul Nicholson (paul.nicholson@yahoo.com).
